About Jim

James Lee Mixson III (Jim) was sworn in as Iredell County’s Clerk of Superior Court by Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Joseph N. Crosswhite on December 3, 2012.  Mixson is a 1988 Honor Graduate of Mitchell Community College where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and 1990 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.  Mixson served as a North Carolina Probation/Parole officer for over 17 years and specialized in sex offender control for over six years.  In addition to his normal duties, Mixson was heavily involved the development of the N.C. Community Corrections current case planning model in addition to conducting training in case planning, motivational interviewing and the Justice Re-investment Act.  Prior to his service as a probation officer, Mixson held several management positions with Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated.   

A resident of Statesville, Mixson has been married to his wife Kristi Cash Mixson for over 22 years.  They serve as High School Class Shepherds at Western Avenue Baptist Church where Jim also serves an usher.  They have two children; Jay who is a Navy Midshipman at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina and Addison who is in high school.

  • Named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Statesville Rotary Club (2008)
  • District Award of Merit (2008) and Scoutmaster Award of Merit (2009) from the Boy Scouts of America
